Social Outings

We now have a new member of staff thanks to PokerStars, who are funding the post for an initial 2 year period.

So far this year we’ve held a very successful 70’s night at Port St Mary Town hall, our DJ for the night was our friend David Patrick and everyone had a fabulous time.

We’ve also held a bag pack at Port Erin Shoprite and our annual flag day in Port Erin which was held on TT week Monday, unfortunately bad weather scuppered our plans to hold a stall on the promenade but we have other fund raising events planned throughout the summer including Tynwald day & The Southern Agricultural show.

Many Thanks to our loyal team of volunteers and to Shoprite for their ongoing support.

Our Chairman, Jonathan completed the gruelling Parish Walk on 18th June, walking 85 miles non-stop in 22hrs 24 minutes & crossing the finishing line at 06.24 on Sunday morning. He came a fantastic 73rd out of 1400 entrants!

Absolutely fantastic achievement, Well done, Jonathan!

He has so far raised almost £1,900, just £100 short of his £2,000 target.

Every penny raised goes towards supporting older people in the south of the Island with volunteer befrienders and social events.

If you’d like to sponsor him & help to reach that target please click on the link below or contact us on

Thank you very much and thanks to everyone who has sponsored him so far.

Back by demand is Tynwaldballs – its a book of a collection of quotes and gaffes from our Manx Parliament!  They cost £10 each with all proceeds coming to Southern Befrienders.  They are on sale in our office in Thie Rosien, Bridge Bookshop in Port Erin, The Manx Museum in Douglas and Tynwald Library.
