She spent nine years as Lead Administrator for a leading children’s hospice in the UK, where she led a team of 24 volunteers and five staff across the service. Val, whose maternal family are Manx, returned to live in the Isle of Man six years ago and worked for Friends Provident International Limited in Castletown as PA to the International Director.  In 2014 she left Friends Provident to start her own business, IsleStyle, and now has a growing reputation for supplying quality textile and other gifts to The Manx Museum and House of Manannan gift shops and other Island retailers.  She runs her business alongside working for Southern Befrienders.
